Columbia Men’s Deschutes River Heavyweight Flannel Shirt Review

You may have read last month’s review of the Columbia Powder Lite Hooded Jacket. If you have, you will know how much I like the Columbia brand and the clothes they make. This is one of the reasons that I chose the Men’s Columbia Deschutes River Heavyweight Flannel Shirt which I’m going to review for you here:

A main feature of the Deschutes shirt is the twin check pockets and the wooden effect buttons. I think the shirt has a real long-term style is timeless and wouldn’t look out of place last year or next. The shirt has a thick collar which feels strong and sits firmly downwards; this looks really smart and I’ve worn this shirt out to bars and restaurants and it’s easily looked in keeping with posher settings.

Alternatively, when out for a hike on the blowy Cornish coastal path, you can pull the collar up and it’s sticks up really well. This thick flannel material stops the wind whistling across my neck and works like an improvised Buff! I think this setting is definitely when the thick flannel Columbia shirt is at its best.

The Deschutes shirt is made with a tailored slim fit. I think it looks really great and fits superbly well. It is cut in a slim way and doesn’t feel baggy or float around, although it still allows enough movement to get out and be active in the outdoors.

My final point to talk about, is also the most important: the fabric which this shirt is made from. The Columbia Deschutes River uses an incredibly thick and warm flannel material. My size medium shirt weighs in at 745 grams. It’s a really chunky material which does a brilliant job of keeping you warm. It’s twice as thick as most of my other flannel shirts and is perfect for a cold winter’s day.

I think the Men’s Columbia Deschutes River Heavyweight Flannel Shirt is an awesome addition to any outdoors-man’s winter wardrobe. It’s a classic item that you’ll be able to wear for years to come and that no guy should be without. It’s perfect for layering in the colder, winter season whilst still looking awesome enough to be worn alone.

hi. re its being a ‘tailored slim fit’, is that on the tag or other paper work that comes with the shirt? columbia’s product page doesn’t say either way, and amazon’s page for the shirt says it’s a ‘regular fit’. thanks!
