September is an excellent month for camping; campsites have reduced their tariffs, the summer tourists have mostly all gone home and the summer weather is still hanging on. Yes the evenings are drawing in and the chance of rain and cold weather are a little bit higher but on a sunny September Sunday, a day in the sea at Sennen is just about as good as it gets.   This weekend just passed we decided to pop down…

Last weekend, our friends were camping in Sennen and invited us to join them. Although the weather wasn’t in our favour, Mike and I decided to brave the elements and head down to Trevedra Farm Campsite. The location is fantastic; Sennen Cove is very close by and it is a short drive to Lands End. I’d definitely recommend asking to pitch in the bottom field as it is closest to the coastline and has the best views.  …

I love a good campsite. I like the small ones with only a few basic pitches as well as the large ones with flash facilities and swanky showers. Sometimes though, a proper campsite isn’t quite up to the ‘back to nature’ feeling you might be hankering for. You don’t want running water, toilets or showers. You want to be traversing the landscape, cohabiting and existing with the natural land. This is where Wild Camping comes into it’s own.…

Having caught your first bass, working out what to do with it can be a tricky thing. The jubilation of all your hard work coming together and you landing a bass is one of the best feelings out there. However, after you’ve put the poor chap to night, the question “What now?” is at first a tricky one to answer. As I tackled my basstastic catch yesterday, I thought back to my first bass and thought it would have…

It’s been an awesome start to the summer. I’ve built up a little collection of photos and anecdotal stuff we’ve been doing so I thought I’d share it on here, cos that’s well what my site’s for! I’m going to try and keep this pretty text light and photo heavy as they paint 1000 words and all that. Don’t be surprised if I ramble on though, it normally happens.   Beach BBQs have literally become a weekly occurrence…

Summer has finally arrived and last weekend we decided to make the most of this glorious sunshine. We arranged to meet up with a few friends on our local beach. So in preparation we thought it would be the perfect occasion to try out our new ice cube tray and 3 piece Ice bucket by OXO.   The ice cube tray is so practical. There are two trays made of silicone, making 24 ice cubes in total! You…

I’ve just got a new bike and I love it. It’s called the Rockrider 580 and it’s made by B’Twin who are one of Decathlon‘s brands. At £600, the bike is a bargain and is specced out at a level you’d be expecting to pay upwards of £800 for. This is common with Decathlon’s passion brands, making them a great buy for outdoor or sport enthusiasts who like quality at a good price.   The first thing that…

Last Saturday I’m pretty sure the summer switch got turned on. I woke up and much like Scrooge on Christmas morning, I rushed to the window, swung it open and yelled at a boy to go buy me a turkey realised that it was in fact, bright, brilliant and sunny – not a cloud in the sky. In haste, I dusted off my flipity flops and reached to the back of the shelf to find my shorts. Pale legged…

Last Monday the weather was absolutely glorious – it made a change from the horrid weather we have had recently. So my girlfriend and I took advantage and decided to go for a cycle. One of my favourite routes to go on is the Mineral Tramway. This route starts at Portreath and goes all the way to the picturesque harbour village of Devoran. Basically all the way from one coast to the other.   We packed our picnic and…

Since moving into my house, my girlfriend and I have really enjoyed exploring the local area, making the most of the exciting and dramatic coastline right on our doorstep. So it was a no brainer to get this book: Hidden Beaches by Daniel Start. This is a guide of “secret” and secluded beaches around the UK, each chapter pointing out a variety of beaches along a stretch of coastline. We were most interested in finding somewhere pretty local to…
