One of the perks of running a site like Wild Tide is getting invited to cool events and shindigs. I’m not always able to attend them but when I was asked to the launch party of the new Stable restaurant in Falmouth, I couldn’t say no. I’d been to their last opening event at Fistral Beach in Newquay, which was great, but the Falmouth opening was even better (and not just because of the free bar) The photograph below…

People think of the peak summer months of July and August as being the best best months for fishing. I’m a pretty firm believer that this stretches to early Autumn and that great fishing can be had in September and October, especially when we have a nice warm month like we have had this September. This week my fishing co-pilot and I went down to one of our favourite marks on the North Coast of Cornwall. It’s a great…

I’ve already written about where and how we camped during our trip to Padstow. I thought I’d write a final post about what we got up to whilst we were there. As you can see from the photo on the right, we didn’t have a very good idea of what we would do, so we just chucked a ton of stuff into the van and set off. I always like doing this as you can just decide what to…

Falmouth Tallships doesn’t happen very often so I definitely think it’s always worth checking out every few years when it’s in town. I’m not the only person who feels this way as this year saw around 70,000 people go to Falmouth Docks to peer at the ships. Even more impressive than this, the total visitor numbers across Falmouth have been estimated at more than 200,000 over the weekend! Sam, our friends and I made our way into town on…

I’m desperatly trying to claw onto the last remaining days of summer. On a recent sunny weekend my girlfriend and I decided to go for a little camping trip to Dennis Farm Campsite near Padstow. This campsite is next to and run by the same people as Dennis Cove Campsite (which I’ve written about previously). What I was amazed to find out though, is that this campsite is even better! This is mainly due to its incredible location. You…

This week has got off to a bit of a lame, rainy start so I thought I would use some of my rainy day today to blog about last week and the adventures I had! I’m pretty busy at the moment and I’m sure nobody wants to read a detailed description of the whole 168 hours, so I’m just going to write a few lines and let you look at lots of photos. At the start of the week…

A few weeks ago my girlfriend and one of my besties headed up to Liskeard to spend the afternoon at Adrenalin Quarry. We partook of two of their attractions the Zip and the Giant’s Swing. The Zip measures 490m long and is a whopping 50m high, meaning that when you go down you hit speeds of 40mph. You don’t need to book in advance to go on the Zip or Giant’s Swing at Adrenalin Quarry, you just rock up…

I’ve just returned from an awesome mini camping trip to Padstow in my VW T4. I don’t want my van to be a full on conversion as I use it for carrying all kinds of stuff and don’t want to waste the space with sinks and fridges. What’s great about my T4 is that you can easily remove the rear seats and then have the entire rear of the van empty. The back of the van will then easily…

I’ve had a mad couple of weeks at work, which has resulted in not a lot of blogging and not a lot of fun. It’s been worth it though as I’ve managed to secure a better position and have got through it all now. To celebrate the frantic fortnight being over, I bought myself a new watch and my girlfriend and I popped into Truro for lunch. The watch I bought was this new Swatch watch called Black Ghost…

A couple weeks ago my girlfriend and I went on a lush little wander down to a very cool and lesser known Cornish beach. It’s off the beaten track and is one of my favourite beaches, especially in summer as it’s not known by tourists and locals alike. There is no car park, you simply park up on a country road and walk down what looks like someones drive until you see a small woodland path. From the top…
