With the start of the summer sun beating down, I decided to ignore the reports about wind and swell and head to the North Coast in search of an adventurous afternoon and fishing. It’s a short drive to one of my favourite fishing spots on the North Coast of Cornwall: Tubbies Head. This rocky outcrop is located on the cliffs between St Agnes and Porthtowan and, in the right conditions, can present some awesome bass fishing. As I arrived…

I hope you all had a fantastic Easter break, I certainly did! When it comes to holidays, I make sure I try and not leave a day spare and ensure that I make the most of my time off. Have you ever had a holiday and when you come back to work and someone asks you what you did and you just don’t really know –it’s depressing! Plan something for every day, that’s my advice, that way your holiday…

I love all Rab gear but I especially like my new Rab Alpine 35 Backpack; as it’s such a well designed and useful bag! I’ve been using it over the last few weeks and have really begun to appreciate just how well made it is. The rucksack has a capacity of 35 litres, which combined with its extendible top makes it a very useful size. So far I’ve used it for a few day trips, weekends away and a…

So far there hasn’t been much snow down here in Cornwall, the odd quickly melting flake but nothing substantial. So the weekend just passed we went to Dartmoor in search of snow. With no particular destination in mind we drove off into the tundra, travelling past Princetown, past Two Bridges until we found a little carpark next to Cherry Brook. We had seen an exciting looking forest and Tor in the distance. This Tor turned out to be Bellever…

My Springer Spaniel Rufus loves a trip to the beach. The huge plain of sand, pools of sea water and loads of doggy friends to make, mean he always has a great time! His and my favourite beach to go for a walk on has got to Perranporth. It’s great for dogs and is so big you can happily let them off the lead so they can have a great big run without having to worry about other beach…

Kennal Vale is a gorgeous piece of Cornish woodland made even better by a dramatic river running through and deep undergrowth. Throughout the reserve the remains of a granite gunpowder mill can be seen, scattered along the wooded slopes. It’s a really fantastic place to go for a wander and to take some photos, so much so that most of the people that you see at Kennal Vale either have a camera or a dog. On a particularly cold…

It’s been raining non stop this week and I’ve now declared that it’s officially winter. Some people might say that rain and cold is bad weather; This isn’t true though; there is no such thing as bad weather – just bad clothing. To avoid bad clothing you need to invest in a decent pair of wellies and a good coat. Once you’ve got those, then who cares if it’s tipping it down. I’ve recently tackled my wet weather footwear…

A couple weeks ago my girlfriend and I went on a lush little wander down to a very cool and lesser known Cornish beach. It’s off the beaten track and is one of my favourite beaches, especially in summer as it’s not known by tourists and locals alike. There is no car park, you simply park up on a country road and walk down what looks like someones drive until you see a small woodland path. From the top…

You may be aware that recently the weather has been, a little bit (what I would call) iffy! Even when it’s not hailing or raining, it’s only been a matter of time before it starts up again. In a tiny break between the rain we made a sprint for the coast in my T4; to meander along the coastal path and check out some of the splashing and crashing of the ocean and listen to the whirl of the…

As I always say great things come in small packages (I’ll let you insert your own joke there). The 5.11 Tactical TMT A1 fully conforms with this proverb and is a whole lotta torch crammed into a small package. When I ordered it I pondered over what made it tactical and wondered why everything I had read about it had been so positive. Upon it’s arrival my queries were quickly answered. The TMT A1 is all the torch you…
