Last weekend wasn’t anywhere near as sunny and hot as the last weekend has been, it was a bit cloudy and overcast but looked like a really great weekend for some fishing. We decided to go for a fishing double bill and fly fish during the morning and hit the coast for some bass action in the afternoon. I’d just bought a few pairs of Bonsai Bamboo Socks. I’m not entirely certain about how they make bamboo into fabric…

I’m a big fan of Fatyak; there is just so much to love. Their sit on top kayaks are well priced, well designed and are well made in Somerset, England. What more could you ask for? Awesome, home grown, colourful kayaks! This is why I own two of them, a standard Kaafu and a Fishing Kaafu. So when I found out that they had created the Fatyak Kaddy Storage Pod, which is an additional storage hatch for any of…

To be honest I hadn’t heard of Mount Edgcumbe before last weekend. I cant imagine why as it’s a fantastic, gorgeous place to visit. Mount Edgcumbe is a stately home and gardens in Cornwall, overlooking Plymouth Sound. Although it’s in Cornwall I actually visited it from North of the border: Plymouth. Right next to the up-market Royal William Yard, there is an awesome little ferry boat which travels between the Docks and Mount Edgcumbe every 15 mintues. It costs…

I love all Rab gear but I especially like my new Rab Alpine 35 Backpack; as it’s such a well designed and useful bag! I’ve been using it over the last few weeks and have really begun to appreciate just how well made it is. The rucksack has a capacity of 35 litres, which combined with its extendible top makes it a very useful size. So far I’ve used it for a few day trips, weekends away and a…

My Springer Spaniel Rufus loves a trip to the beach. The huge plain of sand, pools of sea water and loads of doggy friends to make, mean he always has a great time! His and my favourite beach to go for a walk on has got to Perranporth. It’s great for dogs and is so big you can happily let them off the lead so they can have a great big run without having to worry about other beach…

Last weekend we decided to head to the Eden Project to have a go on their ice skating rink. Although I’ve been to the Eden Project lots (mainly to see the fantastic Eden Sessions), I’ve never been ice skating there. In fact, I’ve never actually been ice skating. Over the winter, they have their ice skating rink in the same area which they hold their Eden sessions during the summer. Once you’ve paid the main entrance fee, 40 minutes…

2014 has been an awesome year at Wild Tide, so as well as looking forward to 2015 and all the adventures it will bring, I thought that with 2014 almost over, I’d do a little round up of some of the best outdoor gear I’ve tested this year and not yet written about.   MSR Ultralight Kitchen Set This first item that I’m going to tell you about is a great piece of gear for backpackers and light weight…

With the clocks now set back the light is normally long gone by the time I get back from work, team this up with weather that is only good for ducks and you’ve got the possibility of some boring evenings in. Throughout the summer my friends and I would spend our evenings in or by the water, adventuring, cycling or enjoying the beach; it’s sad to think that we’ve got a long few months before we can get…
