This time of year is cold. Especially so if you are a surfer. The sea is cold. The wind is cold. The rain is cold. Everything is cold (even the inside of your van)! That is why you’d be crazy to go into the water at this time of year without a hood. It’s said that around 45% of your heat is lost through your head, so without a hood you are going to get some serious brain freeze!…

This is a great gift for any surfer or water sports enthusiast. A hooded changing robe is the gift that keeps on giving and everyone needs one in their life! Basically it has two great benefits: Number One It keeps you warm and toasty. In the cold bleak winter the worst thing about surfing is getting changed in and out of your suit. This simple invention makes changing a breeze and lets you get into your warm and snugly…

Lot’s people don’t use phone cases and say things like “It doesn’t matter, it’s insured!” When I purchased my iPhone I looked into phone insurance and when you really start having a good read up about it, it doesn’t look like it’s worth the money.   If you’re struggling for Christmas present ideas for your surfing friend or loved one, then here is my first idea for you: A quality surf watch.   These are five books were lent to me, when I started surfing by a friend and very experienced surfer. Along with practice and words of wisdom from friends in the sea, these are all you need to get into surfing.   Taj Burrow’s Book of Hot Surfing by Taj Burrow Published: 2003 Publisher: Rolling Youth Press Pages: 180 I’ve put this book right at the top of the list because it’s the one i’d choose if I could just…

A couple eves ago my friend and I had a great dusk session. The surf was good and the sea was busy until about 30mins before the sun disappeared below the horizon. With about 30mins left before pitch blackness everyone left and we finally had almost the whole beach to ourselves. Awesome.

This time last year I had a pay as you go, uber basic phone. Now I have an Iphone and land in the pathetic category of having no idea how I’d survive without it. Here are a few of my favourite apps for people that enjoy the outdoors:   Night Sky – You point it space and it tells you what you’re looking at! Awesome.   BBC Weather – The best weather APP, intuitive, fast, easy to use, clean and…
