\nFor the last few weeks, I’ve been working flat out on my house and loving it! I’ve had so much help from friends and family and am really grateful. I’ve also had some really awesome house warming presents. This article is about a really cool gift that I was given – a picnic hamper<\/a><\/strong>. I’ve always coveted them, especially whenever I’ve seen someone using one. So I was totally stoked to have one of my own!<\/p>\n

\nMy girlfriend has been a proper trooper and has been helping loads with the renovation. One evening I thought it would be a nice idea to treat her to a little coastal walk and picnic. With the house so close to so many amazing views of surf and swell, we headed just down the road to the cliffs. I know the area pretty well, although as the paths are a bit of a labyrinth, I inadvertently always make one wrong turn! As the sun set, we arrived at the perfect spot: a sheltered and less trodden, flat area of grass surrounded by cliff top flowers. <\/p>\n

\nI wouldn’t normally look gifts up on the net but I wanted to tell you all where my basket came from (as I imagine a lot of you will want one for yourself). Anywho, after looking at the label and the packaging, I’ve worked out that my picnic basket is this one<\/a><\/strong> from The Basket Company<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n

It’s a really awesome combination of classic, retro picnic basket with a couple great modern twists. The first cool, more contemporary feature is the lime green faux leather carry handle and fastening straps. I love the colour green but even if you don’t, you’ve got to admit it definitely adds a cool touch to the basket. What else I love about my hamper is the built in cool bag compartment, this very practical cool bag is built into the hamper and not only gives you a nice, hygienic storage bag to keep your food and drink in, but also will keep your food nicely chilled. In my books, this is essential on the perfect, hot, sunny picnicking day!<\/p>\n

\nAll held securely inside the basket are: 2 china plates, 2 stainless steel knives, forks and spoons, a bottle opener and cork screw. So it’s perfect for a nice romantic little walk and picnic. The only thing I found it was missing was the necessary wine glasses, I solved this very easily though by picking up a pack of 10 plastic wineglasses for \u00a32 at the supermarket. With two of these inside the hamper, you have everything you will ever need! Surprisingly, even fully loaded with food and wine, the hamper was still easy to carry and the handle was very comfortable.<\/p>\n

\nI’m sorry, I got carried away eating and managed to take no actual photos of the food. It was delicious, you’ll have to take my word for it! As you can imagine, I ate more pork pies, cucumber sandwiches, cocktail sausages, scotch eggs, cheese and strawberries, than I thought humanly possible. After we had emptied the hamper of all cuisine, we chilled out watching the sunset and made the short walk back, with plump, satisfied bellies.<\/p>\n
