Brent Knopf from Portland, Oregon was originally in the band Menomena. In 2009 he formed Ramona Falls as a project, then in 2011 he left Menomena to focus on Ramona Falls. Personally I think this was a great decision. I love how distinct their songs are and how unique their sound is. The first song below is the one that got me into Ramona Falls and also has an awesome video, which is filmed entirely on a DSLR not to dissimilar to mine!
