I’ve been on the lookout for some new headphones and I have finally found the perfect ones. The Skullcandy Grind Wireless on-ear bluetooth headphones from The Board Basement really are awesome. Bluetooth headphones have been around for a while and have always been a great idea but now with most of the latest smartphones ditching the 3.5mm headphone jack all together, they’re becoming a necessity. So what do I really like about the Skullcandy Grind Headphones? Firstly, they sit very…

I love swimming, but I’ve got to admit – it can get a little boring. I think it is especially so in a pool doing long distance. I don’t see why even the most avid swimmer would disagree with me. Back and forth for an hour or so is pretty darn tedious. There has to be a way of making it a little bit more interesting? Surely? Right?     I’ve always been interested in ways to make the…

I recently bought Vampire Weekend’s eponymous album from a charity shop for a bargainous £1 and have been loving listening to it. I had the album in digital format but it’s way more fun listening to the whole thing from start to finish with non of this iPhone nonsense. Here are three of my favourite songs by the New York rock band: Vampire Weekend – Oxford Comma Vampire Weekend – Giving Up The Gun Vampire Weekend – A-Punk

PVRIS (which is apparently pronounced Paris and not ‘Pervis?’ like I’ve been saying for ages) are an American rock band from Massachusetts. Their sound is a combination of fairly poppy alternative metal with a strong electronic edge. They are mainstream enough to be pretty accessible for a lot of people but this edge keeps them from being boring or generic. I really like them and have been listening to their album quite a lot recently, if you need proof…

Aluna (who sings vocals and writes the lyrics) and George (who produces and plays the instruments) both make up AlunaGeorge. At first I didn’t know their names and thought AlunaGeorge was a cool band name, then I found it was just their first names combined and was a little bit disappointed. Luckily they are a lot better at coming up with great tunes than they are at band names. Anywho, they are an awesome, London based, electronic music duo.…

Matt and Kim are a sort of indie dance duo from Brooklyn, New York. I first heard their song ‘Cameras’ and really dug it. Cameras is all about the modern phenomenon of constantly photographing everything (something I have a love/hate relationship with), it says how when you’re having a really awesome time, that the thought of taking photos doesn’t ever really occur to you. I then checked out loads of their other songs and really liked them. I love…

This week Three on Thursday features a band that I’ve briefly written about once before… it’s only Pearl Jam! If you’ve been in a cave for the last twenty odd years and didn’t know, Pearl Jam are an amazing rock band who in the year 1990 formed in America, to be more precise in the state of Washington and to be even more accurate in the coastal city of Seattle. Since then they’ve released ten awesome albums. The ones…

Formed in 2005, Nico Vega are an alt rock band from LA in the US of A. Being fronted by the awesome female singer Aja Volkman, they are one of my favourite female fronted rock bands. They’ve also toured with one of my others, Metric and would sit very nicely in a playlist together. Nico Vega have recently released their second studio album Lead To Light, which is good but a bit too poppy for me and nowhere near…

Formed in 1993 in Issaquah, Washington, Modest Mouse are an awesome, American, Indie Rock Band. My favourite album is their most recent, their 2007 album We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. There are a few things I really like about this album. Number one – it’s got a sort of nautical theme, with most of the songs being about the sea in one shape or another. Number two – Johnny Marr of the Smiths played guitar on…
