Sand Sculptures

This week I was lucky enough to go on a little road trip up to Weston Super-Mare to the Sand Sculpture Festival. This years theme was Movies and Cinema. The selection ranged from the spectacular to the very good. I was particularly impressed with the sheer size of King Kong and the awesome work on the face of Ron Weasley. Check out some pics (they sure beat my sand castles): Jurassic Park King Kong Jaws Harry Potter Toy Story

Black and White Postcards from Cornwall

I love looking at really old postcards, I find looking at photographs of how places used to be really interesting, it makes me wonder what the places I love now will look like in 50 or 60 years time. I also really enjoy reading the messages on the back and trying to decipher the beautiful swirly writing lots of people used to have.   St Michaels Mount   Falmouth   St Ives   Padstow   Polperro

Three on Thursday – Beck

This week Beck is up for Three on Thursday. He is an American, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. I’m not a massive fan of all his work, but he has some absolute jems. I like to listen to him when cruising around in the van.   Beck – Loser   Beck – E-Pro   Beck – Gamma Ray

Spider Crabs

Spider Crabs are awesome. They are gnarly looking, scary fellas, but they are pretty easy to catch and are darn tasty. They don’t have much brown meat but their long claws can get huge and contain some great white meat (their meat is a bit less strong than the edible/brown crab) Finding and Catching them: Spider Crabs start to turn up on our shores around late Spring time and by Mid Summer the larger males have turned up to…

Tops Tips for Wildlife Photography

Taking photos of animals in the wild is not easy. Now i’m no expert but i’ve taken a few photos and thought i’d share somethings i’ve learnt along the way. 1. Take loads of photos. The joy of digital photography is that all the photos you take are free. So why not taken hundred! I literally took hundreds of photos when I was out snapping this pheasant. 2. Get down low. Photos off look better if you’re at the same…

Buying a used Bike.

I recently decided to get into cycling a bit more and buy a mountain bike. I wanted something that was half decent but didn’t want to spend a fortune. (I don’t think it’s ever really a good idea to spend a fortune on a new hobby) So trying to save a pretty penny, I opted for 2nd hand. It is tricky buying a used bike as you end up having quite a limited selection to choose from, after you’ve…
