Christmas Gifts for Outdoor Adventurers Part Two

It’s coming to that Christmassy time of year when gift buying gets serious. Sometimes buying presents is a piece of cake, however it isn’t always this simple and you can find yourself wandering aimlessly around the highstreet without a clue! If you’re worried about getting gifts for your outdoor-loving friends or family, I’ve got you covered in this helpful guide with some excellent suggestions of things they will love.

Morakniv Companion Knife

Morakniv are a Sweedish company who have a 125 year history of knife making. The Swedes have some of the best outdoor brands which lead the way in outdoor manufacturing; Morakniv are one of these great companies. My first gift suggestion comes from them and is their classic Morakniv Companion Knife. The Companion is one of their most popular knives, because, as you may have guessed from the name, it is such a reliable and practical knife.

It’s a well designed and useful knife and one that I’d recommend for anyone. It is especially good for younger people as an introduction to knives and bushcraft (obviously supervised safely!) This knife is super handy and will really have a go at any task you throw at it from hunting to whittling. As it’s available in an array of colours you can pick one that your recipient will love.

I really like the quality of this knife, it’s materials and attentions to detail. The blade is made from Swedish stainless steel, this makes maintenance easy and will keep the blade sharp for a long time. The handle and grip are made from rubber which makes it soft and grippy. I was especially impressed by the design of the polymer knife sheath as it has a cleverly designed belt clip for attaching the knife to a rucksack or a belt. The clip hooks over the belt and holds it tight against it so that you can easily remove and insert the knife into the sheath with just one hand. On the clip there is an eyelet so it can be fixed to a backpack or even a wall.

Grant’s Whisky

A bottle of something delicious is as much of a classic Christmas gift as socks – the difference being that most people will be a lot more happy with something tasty and alcoholic! When it comes to legendary drinks that are perfect for gifting then Grant’s Whisky is right at the top of the pile.

This Scotch Whisky dates back to the Victorian era when in 1886 William Grant starting working in a distillery. He was only a bookkeeper at the time but went on to launch his own whisky. He also built the Glenfiddich Distillery which now the world’s best-selling single-malt whisky! Today, over a century later, Grants continues to be family owned and run.

One of the most obvious visual characteristics of Grants is their triangular bottle which came into production in 1957. It’s definitely a distinctive, elegant bottle that still makes this whisky stand out from the crowd and a fantastic gift. For the outdoors man or lady its a great drink to have when sitting back at the end of exciting day, reflecting on everything you’ve done and everywhere you’ve been.

Being such a classic it’s a hit with passionate whisky drinkers and casual types. There is even a selection of Grant’s Whisky Cocktails that you can create, so this would make a great present for any up and coming mixologist!
