Recently I was very kindly gifted a helicopter flight with a cream tea from Adventure 001. This was an amazing gift as I had never been in a chopper before and it was high up in my bucket list.
Adventure 001 have lots of different locations that you can take a helicopter from. The decision however was very easy for me as they run helicopter trips from St Ives every summer.
The organisation of the whole thing was really slick. We arrived at a field just outside St Ives at the time given to us on our “Boarding Pass”, once we had arrived we were checked in, given a safety talk and had to wait just a few minutes before being escorted to the helicopter.
On-board, the pilot welcomed us and explained the route and what we would be doing. We all had headsets so that we could speak to each other and hear the pilot over the noise of the helicopter’s rotor blades.
After a little bit of aerobatics, we were up in the sky and heading towards the coast. St Ives was almost immediately in sight. We headed quickly towards the West hand side.
The day was a little misty in places however the views were still far and stunning. The mist in the distance added to the drama and didn’t hinder out views of St Ives and the gorgeous Cornish coast one bit.
After flying over St Ives and getting a great view of the harbour, Porthmeor Beach and the Island we turned West and made our way in the direction of Land’s End.
We skirted down the coast for a little further and took in the vista of the sea lapping at the cliffs. It was amazing to get another perspective of a piece of coast I’ve seen lots of my lifetime but only ever from the ground.
After a safe and comfortable landing back at the field, we were offered a delicious Cream Tea which was included as part of the gift. This was served from a very cool retro little caravan at the bottom of the field where we had flown from. I was really impressed with the service and organisation on the Adventure 001 helicopter ride. Although taking a trip in a helicopter is now crossed off my bucket list, It is something I absolutely loved and hope to do again! I couldn’t recommend it more.
