Top 5 Summer Songs About Beaches

No i’m not talking about the beaches you might hear about in a gangsta rap song, i’m going on about the super, sandy, summer ones:   Ramones – Rockaway Beach (best punk song about beaches)   The Beach Boys – Kokomo (I love steel drums)   The Drums – Lets Go Surfing (normally i’m not a fan of whistling in songs)   Martha and the Muffins – Echo Beach (one of my favourite 80’s songs)   Mungo Jerry –…

Check Shirts – My Two Cents

I pretty much live in check shirts, they are just awesome. I tend to wear them like the guy down there. With the top couple buttons undone and sleeves rolled up to the elbows. Tucking in should be kept for smartly dressed times though. That’s the great thing about the check shirts, team them up with good jeans and shoes, tuck them in and you’ve got a smart casual thing going on. Just put them on loose over a tshirt…

Wolf Like Me by Clare Corfield Carr

This is the most recent addition to my Man Cave’s walls: It’s an awesome print by Clare Corfield Carr, i’ve seen a few other pieces of her work in the Here and Now gallery in Falmouth and they’re all great. I love how the pattern on the wolf flows and is a bit abstract (almost ethnic in design) but you can still see the subject matter so clearly. If you head over to her site at www.clarecorfieldcarr.co.uk you can…

Three on Thursday – Rural Albera Advantage

Rural Alberta Advantage are a Canadian, Indie Rock band. I love their natural sound, they always make me imagine the big open spaces of Canada. Frog or Toad?

Yesterday I was doing some block laying (maybe a post about that some other time) in the drizzle. I crouched down to move a piece of wood off the ground when I discovered this little fella… Anyway it got me thinking, was it a frog or a toad? Being a 21st Century man, later in the day I took to the internet and used this little website called google (don’t know if you’ve ever heard of it) to find out…

Ultimate Man Cave Part 1

Every single day, literally no people say to me; “Mike, what would be in your ultimate Man Cave?” Well i’m getting pretty sick and tired of this constant request, so I thought I’d best do a series of posts spilling the beans. So here you go, BOOM: All Man Caves must contain a Chesterfield. Easily the most manly sofa and superior to all other ways of sitting down. Putting it simply, its the Magnum P.I. of furniture. Bankers Lamp…

Top Apps For The Outdoors

This time last year I had a pay as you go, uber basic phone. Now I have an Iphone and land in the pathetic category of having no idea how I’d survive without it. Here are a few of my favourite apps for people that enjoy the outdoors:   Night Sky – You point it space and it tells you what you’re looking at! Awesome.   BBC Weather – The best weather APP, intuitive, fast, easy to use, clean and…

Ray-Ban – Wayfarer

Rhetorical question – What popular eye wear have been worn by Johnny Marr, Elvis Costello, Jack Nicholson and the Blues Brothers? Rhetorical answer – Ray-Ban Wayfarers. Ray-Bans were designed in the 1950s and since then the popularity has risen and fallen – but they’ve always been cool (sometimes people just forgot)
