The Man Cave has been very busy over the last year with modifying my VW T4. One of the easiest and most noticeable changes has been the work i’ve done to the front end. I thought that with the help of some photos i’d take you through what i’ve done.
This is how the van started off. Exactly the same as when it left the factory ten years ago.
The first thing I did was get rid of the orange indicators. I used new clear indicators and chrome indicator bulbs, this way you can’t see any orange bulbs through the new clear plastic.
My overall plan is to make the van all black and red. So I decided to add some tinting film to the lights (its MOT legal).
I then replaced the standard grill with a badgeless grill, I really think this cleans up the front of the van, making it look more sleek and simple.
You can use a heat gun trick to blacken the bumpers on T4s but not to the extent I wanted it to be. So I removed the bumped and sprayed in black with rattle can spray.
When the bumper was put back on i’d hope you agree the finished front looks much more simple and mean.

Brett from NSW Australia here. I know it is a number of years since you first posted your modifications on your T4, however as they are still on your page I thought I would as ask you a question about your lights and indicators.
I really like the look of your van with the dark headlights and indicators along with the other mods. I have done very similar to my white T4 van except, I painted my VW Logo on the front grille flat black. I already have ordered some tint for my lights and indicators from FlyeyesKit UK. I ordered the Grey #2. I was wondering what is the shade/tint you used and where did you purchase it from?

Thanks for getting in touch and glad you like the site. It’s really cool how someone in Australia reading my site. Is there much of a T4 scene in Aus? I bought my tints direct from the Fly Eyes UK Website in the ‘Black 1’ standard black tint. I can’t imagine there is much difference between them though. Make sure you use a hair drier when applying as it really does make a difference. Keep up the good work on your van it sounds awesome!
