Christmas Gifts for Game Of Thrones Fans

I don’t watch a great deal of television but one program that I always make sure I’m able to watch is Game Of Thrones. It’s literally the best program I’ve ever seen! If you still haven’t started watching it you need to make sure you do. Anywho, I digress, if you know someone who is, like me, a massive Game of Thrones fan, I’ve made a little list of five awesome gifts that you could get for them this Christmas.

The Game of Thrones Books (all 7 volumes)

I’ve got to start with the most obvious of gifts, the actual books. My lovely girlfriend bought these for me for my birthday and although I’m pretty busy and find little time to read, I’m gradually making my way through the first book. With even more detail and slight differences with the TV program they offer extras that any fan will love.

The Game of Thrones Card Game

Ever fancied waging war and conspiring to crush your opponents in King’s Landing? This card game is the best way to get inside Westeros and have a go at leading a House. You and three friends can each choose a House; be it House Stark, House Baratheon, House Targaryen or House Lannister (you can however play it with just two or three people). You can then interact with famous characters from Game of Thrones such as Ned Stark, Jon Snow, Littlefinger, Cersei Lannister and Robert Baratheon. The game takes about an hour or so and although pretty in depth, is fairly easy to pick up.

There are three different ways of attacking the other players. You can do a military challenge which kills your opponent’s character. If this isn’t really style you can use an intrigue challenge which limits your rival’s choices by making him or her throw away their current cards. Finally, a power challenge allows you to steal your foe’s power tokens for yourself.

What makes this game really cool, especially to fans, is that different characters and different Houses are better at different types of attack. So you need to think about the characters and plan your strategy accordingly. To win the game you really do need to think just like a character from the show and plan out a cunning strategy to defeat your opponents – this is what I really love about the game.

The Official A Game of Thrones Colouring Book

Although the craze of ‘adult colouring in’ has left me slightly confused, bemused and scared for our societies collective intellect, I totally get the point when GOT is involved. With this book you can relive all your favourite GOT moments in the colours you choose. I haven’t got this book yet but I’m tempted to buy it and do some multi-coloured Andy Warhol inspired images. I reckon if you do buy this for someone then you need to get them some extra red colouring pencils too, after all there is a lot of killing…

Game of Thrones Pop-Up: A Pop-Up Guide to Westeros

Maybe to go along with the GOT colouring book you could get them the Pop-Up Guide to Westeros so they can continue reliving their childhood through the medium of Game of Thrones. This highly detailed and intelligently designed book, pops to life with the turn of a page or a pull of a tab. Any receiver of this book will love exploring the book and finding out more about the different parts of the wonderful world of Westeros.

Game of Thrones Stein Glass

I’m not sure why they even sell merchandise for the houses other than Stark. Honestly, who is choosing Lannister, Baratheon or Greyjoy. For me and surely everyone else in the world, it’s all about House Stark. That’s why last year I bought myself this awesome Stark Beer Stein. With one of these every beer is made 10% better because as you sip you can think about how cool Game of Thrones and the Starks are.

Oh and enjoy the funny little picture to the right —>
