Since really getting into hiking and doing a couple walking and scrambling holidays in Snowdonia this year, where we tackled all 15 of the Welsh 3000ft mountains and quiet a few extra, I’ve really learnt to appreciate hardcore, technical base layers. When it comes to baselayers, there is one company who are right at the top of the pile – Icebreaker. We recently got some of their midweight winter baselayers so that we could keep being active and…

During half term, my girlfriend and I decided to make the most of our time off by going away and enjoying Halloween in style (you may have already read about some of it here)! My girlfriend has a slight obsession with Halloween and was dying to do something exciting, so we chose to go all out and take a trip to Thorpe Park who were running Halloween Horror Nights. This sounded like awesome fun, so off we went.…

Vicky and I started dating in the October holiday two years ago. To celebrate our sort of 2 year anniversary and the 24 months which has just flown by, we decided to go on a little trip this October holiday. Our Half term adventure began by travelling across the Old Severn Bridge through Wales to the Forest of Dean. We were on our way to Camping in the Forest’s Bracelands Campsite in Coleford, right in the middle of…

Technical hiking and walking boots are great, they are superb out on the trails and in the mountains. On more casual terrain or in the town however, they do look a bit un-cool. One day, a few weeks ago in town I got caught in a flash storm and totally soaked. Running down the puddle filled streets I was totally drenched. Finally, getting back to the van and jumping inside, my coat had kept me dry but my jeans…

For some time now, I’ve been after something to wear outside whilst fishing, camping and just generally adventuring.I recently stumbled across the Tiveden Vest from Swedish company Pinewood and it was exactly what I was after. If you’re observant you may have even noticed me wearing it in other posts. I had already heard of Pinewood and knew as with most Swedish companies they are really at the forefront of outdoor clothing manufacturing. I guess it’s because their…

With summer coming to an end and autumn starting to set in, the evenings are drawing in and for me this is a great time of year for campfires and bonfires. Now I don’t want to sound like a pyromaniac but I love everything about campfires, the smell, the sounds of the wood crackling, the colours of the flames and watching the swirl of the smoke. Campfires are awesome. The great thing about them is you don’t even…

Summer is definitely the time for fishing and we’ve certainly been making the most of the good weather and doing so. We’ve been fishing almost every day, both from the shore and on the water off our kayaks. In my opinion, although harder to launch from and way more prone to big swell, the North Coast is always the best place to kayak and fish from. It’s always a lot more productive fishing wise and the epic scenery…

Last weekend, our friends were camping in Sennen and invited us to join them. Although the weather wasn’t in our favour, Mike and I decided to brave the elements and head down to Trevedra Farm Campsite. The location is fantastic; Sennen Cove is very close by and it is a short drive to Lands End. I’d definitely recommend asking to pitch in the bottom field as it is closest to the coastline and has the best views.  …
